So, it's been 2 days since we got here... and so far we've managed to rent a car, check in, and open a bank account! Yesterday, we went up to San Francisco, which is about a 45mn drive from San Jose.
Yolanda and Wesley (Max's auntie and her husband) invited us over for dinner, along with my sister Debarati and Michael. It was so cool and weird to be altogether again, and not having the feeling that it'll be a while before we see each other again. It still doesn't feel real to us: in fact, this could be just another business trip.
Yolanda made a really killer curry, and we popped some memorable wines (that we can't remember! Wes!!!? give us the list of what we drank please! It was sooooo goood!). Didi brought 3 tubs of Ben and Jerry's ice cream, and we literally PIGGED OUT.
Don't know if any other others remember, but I think we unanimously decided to get together like this once a month: next one's at our place, folks.
Loads of fun, and it's great to be here!!!
Hi Shayan,
Great idea to start the good old Blogger with information on your new adventure. I looked on the map and found you are nice and close to the Amdocs campus with the new house. Isn't it amazing what kind of space and luxury you get for your $'s in good old USA. You are going to be spoiled very soon.
How is the new job going, curious to learn what the Service Assurance Product Manager role is about ? Or have you not started yet, giving you some time to find your way around in Silicon Valley getting your house in order and buying yourself some serious wheels (what did you get ?).
I am sure you guys are going to love your time in the USA, especially California, you will just not have enough hours in the day to enjoy it all, there is so much to do around that neck of the world. It shows that if you want something really bad you will eventually get it. Remember the trip we took to London to interview through Abraxus for positions in California, I think that was about October 2000, 5 years later you have arrived in style.
What kind of Visa did you guys get, just curious !
Wishing you and Max all the best and someday we will be there to visit !
